Graduation 2007

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams, act as though it were impossible to fail. Success is having the determination and the courage to become the person you believe you were meant to be.

Ten years ago I graduated from high school and yesterday I saw the first group of high school students I taught graduate...interesting ... it was an amazing yet exhausting day. They were all so beautiful and it was an honour to be able to say I was a part of that. As they hugged me after the ceremony, I became quite emotional...watching them walk down the walkway , it was their moment...Regardless of what they do in the next few years, they will succeed. These kids overcome so much to make it to school everyday and even more to graduate...

When I first started this year I was really nervous to teach high school...but after participating (and being able to give a speech to the graduates) I realize how rewarding this year has been for me. They taught me a lot about teaching, and about living. They piss me off sometimes, but when you hear a 17 year old young man tell you that he loves you and thanks for helping him out, that moment makes every shitty day worth it...

McArthur River Tour

So, on Friday May 11th (yup, and I'm finally posting the pictures now...bad Trena) I went with some of the kids and Mr. Thomson to tour the McArthur River Mine site, it's an underground uranium mine -- it was really interesting. We traveled down to two of the underground levels...neat. Sam and Dana... waiting for the bus.
